Summary:

The Counselor regularly holds sessions with patients to address their psychological and social needs and serves as their Case Manager to ensure all services are properly coordinated. They lead therapy groups, help patients identify and define their issues, and ensure that all necessary documentation is completed and accurate. Patient records are maintained confidentially, and significant data is routinely recorded. The Counselor develops treatment plans for the interdisciplinary team (IDT) and collaborates with other professionals as needed to ensure comprehensive care.

They attend training seminars and engage in weekly clinical supervision with the Behavioral Health Supervisor to discuss cases and treatment challenges. When appropriate, they refer patients to other disciplines within the clinic and regularly meet with colleagues to gather feedback for case management and treatment planning.

The Counselor performs forensic collections for their patients and updates treatment plans based on clinical observations. They provide vocational and educational assessments, counseling, and follow-up for patients, including completing the Vocational Profile Form and assisting with setting and exploring vocational/educational goals. The Counselor collaborates with these specialists for case consultations and feedback, presenting vocational treatment goals at IDT meetings.

Counselors are required to work on a rotating basis on Saturdays and select holidays, with shift changes at the discretion of the Clinical Director. Additional duties may be assigned by the manager as needed.

Qualifications:

  • CASAC (Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor) certification required
  • Proven ability in patient care, including:
    • Strong communication skills
    • Specialized training in Human Services
    • Knowledge of human behavior and personality development
    • Competency in case documentation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and treatment-related software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bilingual skills are a plus
