Summary:
Responsible for the oversight of patient care delivered by multi-disciplinary transport teams. Works collaboratively with program leadership to ensure competent and safe transport services and operations. Oversees all personnel assigned to the base.

Responsibilities:

  • Works collaboratively with education department to ensure that educational needs of staff are met. Reviews monthly certification report for compliance. Acts as a clinical resource by ensuring clinical competency by providing direct patient care. . Independently cares for patients with an Intraaortic Balloon Pump (IABP) or Impella, on Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), or pediatric Rapid Sequence Intubation. Actively participates in the orientation of new staff members by providing cognitive and psychomotor skill assistance as needed.
  • Assists Program Manager and operations managers to recruit, interview, and select qualified staff to meet staffing requirements.
  • Participates in the assessment of staff competency and provides constructive feedback on a continual basis. Supports leadership with timely transport related performance appraisals. Supports leadership with staff performance issues in a timely and appropriate manner via participation in employee reviews, counseling, coaching, mentoring, and disciplinary actions.
  • Constructs base schedule to produce to produce comprehensive program schedule.
  • Support leadership with oversight of assigned personnel at base, including time and attendance.
  • Demonstrates accountability for cost effective management of equipment and supplies while ensuring the department achieves patient care goals.
  • Supports the implementation of program goals and communication of the strategic plan to staff. Identifies, facilitates and participates in performance improvement projects that enhance patient care delivery systems.
  • Monitor QA log for assigned base to ensure all issues addressed, loop closed and documented appropriately.
  • Manage controlled substances at base with ensuring weekly inventories by staff, monthly inventories, medication orders, and all records maintained per DEA regulations. Monitor all staff's compliance with Controlled Substance Policy/Process and DEA mandates.
  • Receive, review, and route appropriately all base peer reviews.
  • Daily and weekly data and asset reports from Ninth Brain and EMS Charts as needed
  • Responsible for local area Public Relations and Outreach.
  • Responsible for base upkeep, repairs, and improvements.
  • Attend the following meetings 80% of time: Weekly managers meeting, monthly Leadership/Executive meeting, monthly SOC meeting, monthly Outreach meeting, monthly Staff meeting, monthly Safety meeting, monthly QA meeting

Licensure/Certification Requirements:
• NC Registered NurseCurrent AHA ACLS CertificationCurrent AHA BLS CertificationCurrent AHA PALS Certification (APLS or ENPC)Current TNCC, ITLS and/or PHTLS CertificationATLS audit required every 5 yearsNRP or equivalent Approved advanced specialty certification consistent with requirements of assigned base. Valid NC Driver's License
Professional Experience Requirements:
• At least five (5) years of transportation experience.
