What is the mission of the Category Analyst?

The Category Manager for Non-Perishable goods will own the strategic direction of the category, overseeing merchandising, pricing, promotional planning, and supplier relationships. This role is responsible for maximizing sales growth, profitability, and market share by developing and executing category strategies that align with The GIANT Company's mission of Connecting Families for a Better Future. You will work closely with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to identify opportunities, negotiate deals, and ensure that the non-perishable category meets customer needs while contributing to the overall success of the business.

What will I do as a Category Manager?
  • Category Strategy Development:
    • Develop and execute long-term business plans, merchandising roadmaps, and action plans for the non-perishable category to support overall company goals and deliver profitable growth.
  • Financial & Sales Goals:
    • Set and achieve financial objectives, driving sales growth and market share while maintaining competitive pricing strategies for non-perishable products.
  • Supplier & Vendor Management:
    • Build and nurture strategic vendor partnerships to optimize mutual growth, negotiate deals and funding agreements, and capitalize on market opportunities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with Store Operations, Field Support Teams, and Distribution Centers to ensure alignment on labor models, shrink management, and promotional execution for the category.
  • Customer Experience Improvement:
    • Continuously refine category strategies based on consumer insights, improving customer perceptions of non-perishable products and ensuring quality and value.
  • Inventory & Procurement Management:
    • Lead the creation and implementation of procurement, replenishment, and inventory management strategies for non-perishable items.
  • Private Brand & Healthy Sales Strategy:
    • Partner with internal teams to support the development of private brand strategies, ensuring that non-perishable products contribute to health and wellness goals.
  • Store & Vendor Visits:
    • Conduct regular visits to stores, suppliers, and distribution partners to gather insights, foster relationships, and identify opportunities for improvement.

What do we expect you to bring to the table?
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 5-7 years of experience in category management, merchandising, or a related field, preferably within the grocery or retail sector.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and negotiation skills.
    • Proven ability to develop and execute category plans that deliver on financial and strategic objectives.
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across functions and with external partners.
    • Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis to guide decisions.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

What are the details?
  • Reporting: The Category Manager reports in to the Category Director.
  • Hybrid Remote: This position is based out of Carlisle, Pa. And will require 3 days a week in the office.
  • Position Posting Length: The position posting will be live for 2 weeks after the posting date listed at the top of this page.
  • Travel: This position will require travel 20% of the time.
