The Amazon Handmade team is looking for a talented, customer-obsessed Category Merchant Manager (CMM) to help shape the future of our NA marketplace. The CMM role offers the unique opportunity to own a sizable portion of Handmade P&L while also driving large scale, high visibility projects across a variety of internal and external teams.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized and have a demonstrated track record of successful project management/ownership, juggling multiple projects with competing deadlines, and using data to identify and prioritize opportunities. They are analytical, enthusiastic, self-motivated, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and has strong writing skills with the ability to handle ambiguity and influence employees at all levels of the organization.

The successful Category Manager must be able to:

• \tAct as the 'business owner' for his/her categories, possessing a complete understanding of internal and external variables that impact our business (this entails owning forecasting, monitoring, understanding and reporting on the category, along with responsibility for driving strategic projects to achieve business objectives)

• \tHave a complete understanding of the customer needs, both existing and potential, and use that knowledge to deliver site features that provide Amazon customers with an unparalleled shopping experience

• \tManage partner relationships - manage organization/partner contracts, manage day-to-day relationships, and negotiate new partnership opportunities

• \tCreate business plans for new opportunities and develop and execute project plans for the launch of new features, incorporating merchandising and promotion strategies

• \tCoordinate cross-functional teams, and communicate with internal and external teams, while meeting tight deadlines for high visibility projects

• \tConduct financial analysis of business opportunities to meet and exceed revenue and profitability targets

Key job responsibilities

The CMM will have several key responsibilities within the Handmade NA Marketplace business, including:

• \tCategory strategy and ownership: Work closely with Leadership on planning and business strategy, drive best-in-class customer experience and maximize unit and revenue growth through timely analysis and action.

• \tBusiness development: You will work closely with Leadership team to help recruit strategic organizations and sellers and drive sales with new opportunities.

• \tSeller management: Identify and lead new Seller partnerships, manage large Sellers and enhance overall Seller experience with better self-service and reporting resources.

• \tProject management: Lead a variety of projects that both impact Handmade NA and the broader Handmade WW business.

• \tCustomer experience: Innovate on behalf of our sellers to drive optimal customer experience across Handmade with Marketing Teams.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• \tBA/BS degree

• \t5+ years of experience in business development, account management, product management, project management, financial analysis and/or marketing

• \t3-5 years of data analysis, problem solving and project management skills

• \tStrong numerical and analytical aptitude - must be proficient in Microsoft Excel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• \tMaster's degree (MBA) from top tier Business School

• \tExperience in Category Management

• \tExperience in Business Development and Partnerships

• \tFamiliarity with SQL (basic queries)

• \tP&L responsibility and experience delivering strong financial results

• \tProven experience leading cross-functional projects

• \tProactive attitude and willingness to roll up sleeves and dig deep to achieve goals

• \tAbility to think and react in a high-energy, fast-paced environment

• \tExcellent written and verbal communication skills

• \tDetail-oriented

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $148,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
