Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Pay Grade

This position is an hourly position at pay grade 105.

Attendance

Non-rotating 40-hour training schedule at Del Mar College.
First two (2) weeks, Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:30pm and Friday 7am - 12pm.
Third week, Monday - Friday 7:00am - 5:30pm.
Hours and length of time dependent on obtaining either a Class A or Class B CDL

Overview

The Trainee will attend the Commercial Driver License (CDL) Training Program through Del Mar College to obtain either a Class A or Class B commercial driver's license.T
The trainee must pass written and driving examinations. Once the course has been completed, after 3-to-5-week, the candidate will progress to a CDL Driver Apprentice position.

Responsibilities

• Required to attend classroom sessions and behind wheel training

• Must pass all written and driving examinations

• Must remain in an employment position with the city of Corpus Christi which requires a CDL license for 24 months from the date of obtaining their Class A or B CDL license

• If employment is terminated during the program, employee is required to reimburse the City the prorated cost of the course

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma/GED

• No prior experience required

• Must sign a CDL training agreement prior to starting program

• A valid Class C driver's license is required. Successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire.
