The Office of the University Registrar at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Certification Analyst.

About the Opportunity

The Certification Analyst will review, and process graduation applications received from the Colleges/Schools. The incumbent(s) will review the academic transcripts of applicants for compliance with University policies as well as requirements of the relevant academic units. The Graduation Analyst will also ensure that the appropriate information is logged into the Banner Student Information System to post a degree for transcript and diploma purposes. This process will require an in-depth understanding of University policies as well as the degree requirements of the Colleges and Schools of WVU.

What You'll Do

  • Perform reviews of the transcripts of all students applying to graduate from WVU. This review will consist of applying University policies and College/School requirements to a degree applicant's body of academic work. When possible, the incumbent will use the Degree Works (degree audit) system to establish compliance with University and College/School requirements. This review will supplement those already performed by a student's academic department.
  • Work with academic advisors and graduation certification officers from the Colleges/Schools to identify and resolve any issues for an applicant's graduation in a timely manner.
  • Produce and review reports for the Associate Registrar and the Colleges/Schools on candidates for graduation.
  • Input graduation application data and order diplomas for each graduation cycle ensuring timely delivery as well as accuracy. Assist with graduation processing at appropriate intervals as needed.
  • Other duties as defined by the Associate Registrar.


Pay Grade: 15

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a student services area providing information on academic policies and/or assisting students, faculty and staff.
  • Experience working with the Banner student information system or similar large relational databases systems.
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Must be able to analyze and interpret degree requirements as set out by the University and Colleges. These same requirements must be applied to applicants for graduation to ensure compliance with all policies.
  • Must be able to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and administrators engaged in the graduation certification process across campus.
  • Must be able to leverage technology to improve the certification process.
  • Understanding of and insight into academic requirements of a complex University is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience using computer systems, including complex databases.
