General Description:

The Medical Assistant stepping into this role will be responsible for supporting three psychiatric providers in total. This is a smaller department and they will be the only medical assistant on site - as a result there will be quite a bit of autonomy how they approach their day-to-day operations but they will be an essential member of the team.

Working in behavioral health, many of the visits are done virtually meaning this role will lean more towards administrative rather than centered around direct patient care. This individual will be asked to process medication refill request, manage the in the basket of the providers, answer general inquiries from patients and there families as well as support any other general clinic functions. This is a fast paced role that will keep an individual busy throughout the day, so strong organizational skills are essential.

Responsibilities:

- Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned which may include:
- Checking schedules and assisting in organizing patient flow,
- Performing screenings per provider instruction, collecting specimens, obtaining vital signs
- Assisting the medical providers/nurses in exams and with various procedures
- Coordinating medication refills per physicians' instructions
- Documenting patient encounters, completed tasks, patient data, and all other information required by regulatory agencies
- Relaying instructions or information to patients/families
- Answering calls and providing pertinent information (clinical information as directed by the provider)
- Performing other clinical related duties within the scope defined in the WACs
- Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned which may include:
- Sending/receiving patient medical records
- Obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.
- Schedules referral appointments and explains instructions to patients
- Preparing information/consent forms for patients as needed
- Ensuring complete information in the medical record
- Fulfills organizational responsibilities as assigned which may include:
- Respecting/promoting patient rights
- Responding appropriately to emergency codes

Must Have Skills/Qualifications:
- WA State MA-C Certification
- 2+ years of experience within an ambulatory setting
