Responsibilities

Southwest Healthcare Rancho Springs Hospital in Murrieta, California , is a 120 bed acute-care hospital with the region's only Pediatric Emergency Services team (for children 14 and under) provided by board certified Rady Children's emergency medicine physicians. Rancho Springs Hospital also provides the area's only OB/Emergency Department program, which gives expectant mothers 24/7 on-site access to OB/GYN physician coverage. The Childbirth Center at Rancho Springs Hospital is the largest in the region and features spacious family-friendly private suites. Rancho's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is operated by Rady Children's.

Job Duties include but not limited to:

Assists the patient with the activities of daily living, i.e. bathing, feeding ambulating, surgical preps, etc.

Ensures the patient has easy access to supplies needed to maintain personal hygiene, i.e. Kleenex, toothbrush, toothpaste and washcloth before meals.

Provides safe and timely transport of patients as assigned.

Able to function effectively under the direction of the nurse in an emergency patient care situation.

Ensures the call light or alternative method to request assistance is accessible to the patient at all times.

Keeps side rails up as appropriate and under the direction of the RN.

Identifies alternatives to the use of restrains and demonstrates the appropriate use of restraints.

Provides a safe patient environment (i.e. appropriate patient bed alarm use, keeps patient rooms and hallways clear of equipment, identifies need for bedside commode, reports wet floors, etc.)

Notifies Nurse, Clinical Supervisor and/or designee change in patient condition (i.e. vital signs, alertness, confusion, mobility, etc.)

Qualifications

1. ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS

Ø Effective written and verbal communication skills in the English language.

Ø Basic nursing care terminology and functions.

Ø Telephone skills.

Ø Ability to accurately collect and record patient data as directed.

2. MINIMUM ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

Ø Six (6) months CNA experience preferred SNF or Acute facility.

3. MINIMUM ESSENTIAL EDUCATION

Ø Completion of an accredited Certified Nursing Assistant program.

4. REQUIRED LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS

Ø Current, valid Certified Nursing Assistant certificate.

Ø BLS Certification.

5. WORK ENVIRONMENT

Ø Ability to work in high volume, fluctuating census environment.

Ø Subject to many interruptions.

Ø Subject to irregular hours.

Ø Ability to work in fast paced environment where noise levels fluctuate.

Ø Subject to a variety of odors.
