Job Description:
  • PURPOSE OF JOB :
Provide direct patient care and peri-operative care for patients in the Maternal/Child Service unit. Performs duties under the direction and supervision of the RN and LPN. The OB tech provides selected therapeutic interventions and diagnostic procedures. Is responsible for day-to-day management of supplies, equipment, and inventory. Assist with coordination of inservices from vendors on new supplies and equipment.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
  • Provides safe and efficient direct patient care with consideration for age-specific accommodations.
  • Collaborates with patients, families, and health care team members in order to achieve excellence in patient care.
  • Promotes patient safety through adherence to protocols, policies, procedures, evidence-based guidelines and Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Actively participates in and supports departmental and organizational quality initiatives and goals.
  • Maintains clinical competency according to unit-specific standards.

High School Education

Graduate of Surgical Technology School

If certified, maintain Certification in Surgical Technology

OB Technologist hired after December 29, 2020 must meet at least one of the following:

Successful completion of a Surgical Technologist program sponsored by an entity holding nationally recognized institutional or programmatic accreditation and hold and maintains a ST certification from an accredited certification program.

OR

Successful completion of appropriate training program for surgical technology in the United States Army, Navy, or Air Force.

OR

Provides evidence of an ST certification from an accredited certification program.

OR

Was employed to practice surgical technology by the health care facility on or before December 29, 2020.

OR

Was employed to practice surgical technology as the individual's primary function in another health care facility at any time during the two years immediately preceding December 29, 2020.
