Qualifications:
  • A minimum High School diploma or GED.
  • Must be a Certified Peer Specialist having met the qualifications and completed the CPS training.
  • Must be Certified by the Pennsylvania Certification Board within 6 months of start date.
  • Must demonstrate a personal belief in recovery and engage with peers based on that person's needs.
  • Must have lived experience.
  • Ability to travel with consumers by public transportation. ( Must have a valid driver's license and a clean record).
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible hours.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in reading and writing.
  • Ability to work independently and part of a team.


  • External Description

    Position Summary: The Certified Peer Specialist (CPS), under the supervision of the Peer Specialist Supervisor, who is an individual who utilizes his/her own unique recovery experience and skills to provide opportunities and supports for individuals with mental health and co-occurring challenges.

    Earn $19.29 per hour working full time, M - F 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM.

    General Responsibilities:
    1. Works in a collaborative manner
    2. Attends all clinical in-service and other trainings as required by agency, payor or licensure body, which may include, but is not limited to MBH, OBH or OMHSAS.
    3. Understands and adheres to Merakey policies and procedures.
    4. Attends all regular and mandatory meetings
    5. Attends and fully engages in weekly individual and/or group supervision meetings with Supervisor and Program Director
    6. Provides timely, accurate documentation of all services rendered by submitting accurate, legible required paperwork per agency and payer guidelines.
    7. Communicates with members, their families or identified supports, per member approval.
    8. Participates in all Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance activities.
    9. Maintain credentials and continuing education as required.
    10. Maintains weekly/monthly productivity targets.
