Rivers Health is seeking a full-time/temporary Certified Pharmacy Technician .
Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing
medications, maintaining the drug inventory and maintaining patient
records. Pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a
registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be
performed only be a registered pharmacist.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
1.Enters medication orders into the pharmacy computer system and possesses a working knowledge of medication pharmacology.

Requirements
EDUCATION AND FORMAL TRAINING :
High school diploma or equivalent. Must complete 2080 hours as Pharmacy
Technician in Training. State-registration and National certification
certificate as a Pharmacy Technician. Completion of the PVH New Employee
Orientation Program.
WORK EXPERIENCE :
2080 hours as a Pharmacy Technician in Training. Hospital experience
preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
1.Enters medication orders into the pharmacy computer system and possesses a working knowledge of medication pharmacology.
- Reads and understands written physician orders.
- Processes and fills medication orders for pharmacists to check.
- Fills and performs sterile compounding for nonhazardous and oncology per policy and procedure of department, under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. Comply with USP and USP standards.
- Processes and fills floor stock requests.
- Checks and replenishes crash carts and maintains proper paperwork.
- Performs unit floor inspections and drug outdate checks as assigned.
- Packages unit-dose drugs per policy and procedure.
- Fills medication carts and Omnicell maintenance.
- Checks in and places in stock drug orders from wholesaler.
- Credits and returns to stock all discharged patient medications.
- Assists Pharmacy Director and Pharmacists in training new personnel within the department.
- Assists Pharmacists in performing routine tasks so that overall productivity is maximized.
- Participates in the development and implementation of team/ department goals so that department operations run effectively and efficiently.
- Demonstrates excellence in customer service skills.
- Fosters an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration.
- Participates in quality improvement activities including serving on quality improvement teams.
- Complies with Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures and the Personnel Employee Handbook.
- Completes yearly in-service and educational requirements for the department and hospital.
- Performs other related or similar duties as assigned.
- Review 340B program policies and procedures on an ongoing basis and offer contributions and changes to ensure 340B compliance.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the 340B program. Strive to consistently improve the overall efficiency, value, and
internal support of the 340B program.
