OhioMHAS Ohio Pharmacy Services is recruiting for a Certified Pharmacy Technician at Franklin Medical Center (FMC)
Work hours: 11:00 am to 7:30 pm. Rotating Saturdays.
This position will assist in filling orders for prescription drugs & pharmaceutical supplies under personal supervision of pharmacist: procure and distribute medication orders per pharmacist request and completes prearranged work assignments according to established policies, procedures, and protocols (e.g., accurately fills prescription labels and stock requisitions; replenishes medications for night drug room; delivers medications and supplies to patient care and ancillary areas per established schedule); prepares IV Admixtures (e.g. accurately prepares intravenous admixtures or other sterile products with appropriate sterile technique under direct pharmacist supervision; performs IV round of nursing units and determines adherence to IV dosing schedule and researches discrepancies; maintains IV room medication inventory; cleans IV room/compound hood according to guidelines); maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies (e.g., assists in ordering, receiving, unpacking and storing pharmaceuticals and supplies in appropriate locations; rotates stock to ensure use before expiration date; identifies and replaces outdated and unusable drugs; prepackages bulk medications in unit dose packages; determines need for controlled substance medication floor stock; prepares accurate dispensing and transfer records).
Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department: (e.g., picks up medications for return from patient care areas when on delivery rounds; accurately enters charges and credits for patient medications; answers the telephone in an appropriate manner and directs calls to appropriate personnel; answers requests at window; makes stat deliveries to patient care areas when requested; organizes and prioritizes work assignments; accurately maintains logs, records and other required documentation; files documentation in appropriate locations; demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills; keeps pharmacy areas clean, neat and well organized; keeps pharmacy equipment clean).
