Animal Care: Identify illness or injury in animals, handle them safely, and complete thorough assessments and examinations.

Treatment Administration: Present examination findings to the veterinarian and follow prescribed instructions to administer medications (injections, oral, IV). Monitor animals post-treatment.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all primates in both hard copy and electronic formats

Daily Assessments: Conduct daily reviews and assessments of animal cases, presenting findings to the veterinarians

Inventory Management: Manage the inventory of medications and supplies, ensuring no expired items are in stock.

Procedures: Assist with or perform x-rays, ultrasounds, and minor surgeries as needed.

Sanitation Oversight: Oversee the sanitation of the clinic, ensuring cleanliness, and participating in inspections and audits.

Required Skills & Experience

Must be a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) from a recognized veterinary training program with (or eligible for) Florida licensure.
New graduates are welcome; however, candidates without CVT must have significant experience with laboratory animals; experience with non-human primates, is desirable.
Ability to draw blood, give injections, and treat animals.
CVT (BS degree) or AALAS LATg

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

AALAS LATG certification is also acceptable.

Experience in other animal industries, such as animal control, farming, private veterinary clinics, is also acceptable.

Active involvement in 4-H, FFA (Future Farmers of America) or other animal organizations is desirable.
