Summary

Chamber Support Services Staff work as part of a team facilitating access to the House Gallery and House Floor. Chamber Support Services Staff reports directly to the Deputy Assistant Sergeant at Arms and the Manager of Chamber Support Services and assists with administrative and support tasks as needed.

This is a non-supervisory position.

Duties

Duties:

1. Serve as the first point of contact for visitors going to the House Gallery.

2. Operate check stands where prohibited items are collected and secured and returned while customers visit the House Gallery.

3. Escort large groups of visitors going to and from the House Gallery.

4. Control access to the House Floor for staff conducting out of session tours.

5. Enforce decorum rules for out of session House Floor tours.

6. Assist with administrative tasks and organizational support for the Chamber Operations division.

7. Train new employees and serve as a mentor and leader to colleagues.

8. Assist in maintaining inventory and distribution of House Gallery passes.

9. Maintain Chamber Support Services supplies and order materials as needed.

10. Serve as an Office Emergency Coordinator to help facilitate the safe evacuation of Members, staff, and visitors.

11. Assist with special projects and events when needed.

12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The incumbent must have strong customer service skills; must be tactful and courteous in dealing with Members, staff, and the public. As the House schedule requires, the incumbent must be available to work evening hours on a rotating basis; must develop a working knowledge of rules and decorum for House Floor tours; and must be physically able to stand for long periods of time, walk up and down stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Work Schedule:

Full-time, permanent. Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Qualifications

The incumbent must have Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Must be able to pass a criminal history records check.
