Responsibilities

The Chaplain serves as an integral part of the multidisciplinary team providing spiritual and emotional support for patients, caregivers and staff within the context of illness, suffering, loss and death. The Chaplain ministers to patients and caregivers in regard to religious and spiritual beliefs, providing nonjudgmental support within the context of the patient's culture, values, and belief systems.

As Chaplain, you will participate in interdisciplinary care conferences to assist in assessing the spiritual and emotional needs of patients and caregivers including psychosocial issues, adjustment to illness or disability, status of religious/spiritual coping, supporting others in the process of identifying and applying their own values in decision making. The Chaplain makes home visits to provide support and comfort to the dying patient and caregivers, and attends to patients at end of life.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in Theological Studies or a Master's Degree of Divinity from an accredited school, is required.
Completion of four units (1,600 hours) of appropriately accredited Clinical Pastoral Education is required.
Certification by a professional certifying agency or ecclesiastical endorsement is required.

Minimum of One year of Chaplain experience required.
