Position Summary & Duties: The Chemical Commissioning Engineer is an onsite position working for a specialty chemical client in the Saginaw, MI area. It is anticipated the position will begin working around 9/30/2024.

They play an essential role in the semiconductor and solar industries, with the vision of becoming the preferred supplier of silicon-enabled technologies to the low-carbon, digital world.

The Chemical Commissioning Engineer supports Manufacturing Expansion activities, acting as a liaison between Manufacturing, Capital Project Design, and Construction Teams. The role involves applying technical expertise to review designs, solve problems, optimize processes, and ensure the project scope is met. Additionally, the individual will lead plant asset commissioning, focusing on eliminating safety, quality, process, or reliability defects before turnover to Manufacturing.

Chemical Commissioning Engineer Essential Functions:
• Lead process commissioning activities, including detailed planning for commissioning and quality performance.
• Participate in pre-construction Engineering Reviews, Safety Reviews, and Project Planning.
• Monitor construction progress and address issues related to construction, installation, and scheduling.
• Communicate commissioning plans and progress with Project Stakeholders.
• Lead Management of Change (MOC) activities to ensure safe and quality-appropriate commissioning of processes or equipment.
• Manage all aspects of pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup, from initial energization to full operation of new processes and systems.

Chemical Commissioning Engineer Other Functions:
• Engage in pre-construction Engineering Reviews and project planning, ensuring all objectives and requirements are met.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager and Construction Teams to solve problems and anticipate issues affecting safety, timing, cost, or quality.
• Support the development of pre-commissioning and commissioning schedules and plans.
• Facilitate effective communication among project stakeholders and teams.
• Participate in the Management of Change process to ensure the safe startup of new processes and equipment.
• Contribute to documentation and turnover to Manufacturing, ensuring all punch list items and MOC's are completed.


Qualifications:

Chemical Commissioning Engineer Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering is required.
• 3+ years of commissioning/start up experience is required.
• Semi-conductor experience preferred but candidates with refinery or petrochemical experience will be considered.
• Project management and management of change (MOC) experience desired.
• Strongly qualified candidates will be provided per diem if they are not located within daily commuting distance of the Saginaw, MI area where the facility is located.
