Diversion Center

The Center for Diversion and Services is pre-arrest diversion program that will help fill the gaps in resources for justice impacted individuals. Our target population will be individuals living with unmet Mental Health, Substance abuse, and poverty issues. The CDS will be a welcoming place for police to divert individuals that could, otherwise be charged with a low level crime. Staff at the center will engage the guests, assess their needs and help supply appropriate resources for each individual. There is a 40 person "living Room" and a 16 bed Sobering Center. Guest will stay up to 24 hours to receive connections to case management to help meet their unmet needs.

SUMMARY

The Substance Abuse Counselor I (SA) provides services to people who experience addictive disease in addition to a serious mental illness. This includes assessment; recovery focused treatment planning, group and individual training, and group and individual counseling, as well as providing crisis intervention when needed. May provide service coordination and/or linkage to community services for substance abuse treatment. Works in the hospital, outpatient clinic, or community settings, including support provided in the home, at work/school, or in shelters.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree is required
    • BS or BA with one of the following required certification: CAC-II, DACD CCADC, GCADC (II, III) or actively working towards certification and must be obtained within two (2) years of employment or by 11/2014
  • Master's Degree is Behavioral Sciences is preferred
  • MS or MA in Behavioral Sciences with GA DBHDD training in Brief Intervention and Brief Treatment model and actively working towards MAC, CAC-II, CADC, CCADC, GCADC (II, III)
