Responsibilities
  • Assume management responsibility for all services and activities involved in the maintenance and operations including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, building envelope, and associated equipment.
  • Select, train, manage, motivate, and evaluate entire engineering staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies.
  • Plan, direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for facility maintenance and operations; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems; assign work activities, projects, and programs; monitor workflow; review and evaluate work products, methods, and procedures.
  • Participate in the development and administration of the Operations budget; forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; implement adjustments as necessary.
  • Assist with the management of building projects.
  • Assist in the development of a Capital plan which would include planning for infra-structure upgrades, equipment replacements and building modifications to ensure the building's future capabilities are maintained.
  • Assist in the direction and monitoring of the work of contractors, engineers, and architects on building projects.
  • Order supplies and materials for maintenance programs within budget guidelines; receive, inventory, and maintain supplies.
  • Perform corrective maintenance and preventative maintenance duties related to stadium and systems.
  • Maintain hazardous materials communication program, material safety data sheets and required records and permits; maintain knowledge of changes in pertinent Federal, State and Local regulations.
  • Develop and maintain an accurate record keeping system of preventative maintenance inspections and maintenance needs.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President, Operations.

  • Understand the methods, principles, and practices required for the operation and maintenance of building systems.
  • Properly use all equipment needed to perform required duties.
  • Be a skilled craftsman in the maintenance field.
  • Provide mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Basic Knowledge of general techniques in plumbing, electrical wiring, and ventilating systems.
  • Basic knowledge to read and comprehend blueprints, drawings, electric motor schematics and other related materials.
  • Effectively operate, maintain, and repair electrical equipment.
  • Follow and adhere to all safety precautions, building codes, rules, regulations, risk management and emergency procedures.
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative.
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons, and others encountered in the course of employment.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Good written, verbal and computer skills.
  • Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.


Experience:

Minimum of five (5-7) years of increasingly responsible experience in facility operations management preferably with a sports facility, convention center or other multipurpose public assembly facility. Additional property management experience a plus.
  • Possession of an electrical or HVAC license is required.
  • Specialized training in the maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, boiler equipment, lighting systems, chilled water systems, electrical and other related building systems
  • Bachelor's degree or better from an accredited college/university with major coursework in facility management, hospitality management, business management, or related field preferred
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements, NFPA, NEC and Maryland Building Code.
  • Ability to climb stairs and lift 40lbs, unaided.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as required.
  • Knowledge in determining and coordinating logistical needs for very large events, preferably in a sports venue or event facility.
  • Must have availability to work long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Applicants must be proactive self-starters able to work autonomously.
  • Knowledge and ability to use Building Management Systems and Software
  • Basic knowledge of computer skills and Microsoft Office
