Position Purpose

The Chief Flight Instructor is responsible for managing CFI's and Training Course Outlines that pertain to UCM's FAA Part 141 Certification and Part 61 training. This position is also responsible for ensuring students obtain pilot certification necessary to fulfill graduation requirements under FAR parts 61, 91 and 141 in a cost effective manner. This person will be responsible for fulfilling the responsibilities of Chief Flight and Ground Instructor as specified in FAR part 141 and will act as the primary liaison between Flight Operations at the FAA .

Selected applicant will be expected to supervise and lead the flight
operations division within the UCM Department of Aviation. Some specific duties of
the Chief Flight Instructor include ensuring compliance with all FAA and TSA
requirements, procuring aircraft, recruiting and hiring personnel, issuing grades and
maintaining training records, and more.

Required:

-Master's degree in Aviation, Education, Safety, Management or related field.

- Current FAA Pilot Certificates (Commercial ASEL / AMEL /IR, Flight Instructor, Instrument Flight Instructor, Multiengine Flight Instructor).

Preferred:

- Airline Transport Pilot Certificate.

Education may be substituted with significant experience as a professional or military pilot (at least 6 years' experience).

Meets Chief Flight Instructor requirements per 141.35:
- At least 2,000 hours as pilot in command.
- Three years' experience as a Certified Flight Instructor - 1,000 hours of dual given.
- Two years' experience as a CFII - 250 hours of instrument dual given.
- At least one year of experience as a ground school instructor at a certified pilot school.
