This position is located in Sacramento with part-time telework available. Moving and relocation expenses will not be reimbursed for this position.

Under the general direction of the Deputy Director, Operations Division, the Branch Chief leads the Registration Services Branch (RSB). As Branch Chief, has operational responsibility over the Department of Motor Vehicle's vehicle and vessel registration program and the Remittance Program.

This position may be subject to allocation approval by the Human Resources Branch and/or Department of Finance approval.

    Department Information
    The Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is a recognized leader in public service and has existed for over 100 years. The DMV is responsible for registering approximately 36 million vehicles in California, serving 30 million driver license and identification card holders, collecting over $11 billion in annual revenue. The DMV also maintains and oversees many other functions.     Knowledge and Abilities
    Applicants must demonstrate the ability to perform high administrative and policy - influencing functions effectively. Such overall ability requires possession of most of the following more specific knowledge and abilities:

  • Examination Information

    The Statement of Qualifications will be reviewed and rated by an examination panel. Candidates will be competitively ranked according to their qualifications using predetermined evaluation criteria consistent with the minimum and desirable qualifications for the position. The department may elect to consider new applicants in addition to those previously screened.

    Applicants who fail to follow the Statement of Qualifications Instructions and/or fail to provide the required application documents will receive a failing score from this examination process.

    Statement of Qualifications Instructions:

    • Must be clearly titled "Statement of Qualifications" at the top of the first page.
    • Must number and restate verbatim each Desirable Qualification statement before the corresponding response in the same order as listed on this job posting.
    • Must include specific examples addressing each of the Desirable Qualification statements.
    • Must be typed with font no smaller than Arial 10 point.

    The results of this examination will be used only to fill the position of CEA B, Chief, Registration Services Branch, Operations Division with the Department of Motor Vehicles and may be used to fill subsequent vacancies for this position for a period of up to 12 months.
