Job Summary

The Child Life Specialist is responsible for planning and implementing programs and activities designed to reduce stress caused by hospitalization, considering normal human development and the impact that illness, injury, disability, and hospitalization have on this process. The Child Life Specialist will provide programming, including preoperative teaching, diversion activities, procedural support, and developmental play therapy. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved university with a Bachelor's degree in child life, child psychology, or another closely related field to human development.
• Successfully completed a 600 hour internship or currently completing them under a Certified Child Life Specialist.
• Certification or eligibility for Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS).
• Emergency Department experience strongly preferred.
