JOB DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for the oversight of bid specifications, purchasing, maintenance, repair, and inventory of kitchen equipment and other non-food supplies. Provide training to kitchen staff for operating equipment and using supplies.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Communicate with all vendors/contractors concerning equipment and kitchens.
  2. Write specifications for equipment bids and forecast quantities needed for new equipment and supplies.
  3. Follow procurement guidelines.
  4. Submit order requests for equipment and supplies as needed in accordance with purchasing regulations.
  5. Maintain manufacturers manuals/warranties on equipment.
  6. Maintain perpetual inventory of all equipment and supplies.
  7. Communicate the status of equipment and supplies during staff meetings.
  8. Conduct kitchen inspections per schedule.
  9. Train personnel on use of equipment and supplies.
  10. Transfer equipment and supplies as needed.
  11. Responsible for all equipment, maintenance, repairs, and installation.
  12. Set up kitchens and serving lines as needed. Ensure equipment is compatible with existing electrical/ plumbing.
  13. Make recommendations to director for equipment needs.
  14. Ensure equipment is operational at all times.
  15. Enter work orders as needed and follow up on any repairs entered by managers.
  16. Ensure equipment is properly stored for any vacations and/or breaks.
  17. Send outdated/unusable equipment auction.
  18. Coordinate with Planning and Construction Department on projects when they involve Child Nutrition kitchens.
  19. Participate in the new and remodeled kitchen design and development.
  20. Coordinate new kitchen equipment demonstrations and walk throughs.
  21. Must be accessible to contractors at all times for projects.
  22. Responsible for scheduling department van vehicle maintenance.
  23. Responsible for preventative maintenance of Child Nutrition equipment, as well as vent hood cleaning.
  24. Redistribute and/or condemn food when equipment fails or for construction projects.
  25. Maintain regular attendance and adhere to office staff work schedule and hours.
  26. Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:

  • Three years of school district warehouse, inventory, food service or maintenance experience
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Texas Class C Driver's License

Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and refrigeration systems
  • Knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and supplies
  • Knowledge of inventory control procedures and systems
  • Ability to write bid specifications
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees
  • Ability to operate a personal computer
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with other staff and the school community
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
