POSITION TITLE: Child Nutrition Program Operations Associate

REPORTS TO: Child Nutrition Program Coordinator

EVALUATION: Job performance will be evaluated by the CNP Coordinator in accordance with established board policies and administrative procedures and guidelines.

PROVIDES SUPPORT TO: All CNP Staff

SUPERVISES: None

DAYS/HOURS: 208/7.0

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

Education, Certification and/or Experience:

• B.S. degree or above preferred
• Five (5) years of managerial experience in educational nutrition required
• ServSafe Certification required or obtained within a month of employment

Background Check Required: {Ala. Code §§ 16-22A-5) Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Required Skills and Abilities:
  • Valid driver's license and proof of insurance required
  • Ability to plan, organize and schedule the preparation of large food quantities
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to Child Nutrition Programs
  • Knowledge of health safety and maintenance rule and regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment

Preferred Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Harris-Nextgen Accounting System
  • Knowledge of Frontline Absence Management and Time and Attendance Applications
  • Knowledge of Mosaic Nutrition Program

Performance Responsibilities:
  • Observation of school kitchen personnel to determine needs for improvement and to maintain quality of food service standard
  • Provide instruction to lunchroom staff regarding proper food handling, serving and storage
  • Provide continuing guidance to ensure compliance with established standards, procedures, and policies
  • Assist CNP Director in annual training of CNP staff
  • Develop work schedules of CNP staff
  • Assist CNP Director in evaluating CNP staff performance and development
  • Attend workshops and conferences related to school nutrition or other assigned duties
  • Test all kitchen equipment and report any findings of fault or malfunction
  • Evaluate food quantities and maintain and/or prepare periodic reports
  • Serve in school kitchens in any capacity as needed
  • Performs other duties and/or assists with other tasks as assigned by administration

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands to finger, to handle, or feel objects, equipment, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Position will be subject to the Students First Act of 2011. Cullman City Schools reserves the right to fill this position by internal applicants by means of transfer
  • Under the Students First Act of 2011, no credit toward tenure or non-probationary status is earned in the initial year of employment if hired after September 30.
