This is a 9-month position working 3.5 to hours per day . Applicants must have a HS diploma or GED. Experience in quantity, food production and service is desirable. This position will involve lifting.

Child Nutrition Program Worker

QUALIFICATIONS :
  1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  2. Experience in school food services preferred.
  3. Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

REPORTS TO : Child Nutrition Program Manager

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
  1. Perform work in the school food service facility in accordance with regulations, policies and procedures.
  2. Prepare and serve food as assigned.
  3. Perform custodial, dish room, serving area and/or storeroom duties as assigned.
  1. Maintain high standards of sanitation and work safety.
  2. Operate and maintain food service equipment in a safe and skillful manner.
  3. Maintain an effective working relationship with manager and other employees.
  4. Provide cordial and professional service to students and others.
  5. Work in any position in the department as directed by the manager.
  6. Direct and supervise work of others as assigned by manager.
  7. Communicate effectively with the public, staff members, students, parents, administrators and other contact persons using tact and good judgment.
  8. Follow attendance, punctuality and proper dress rules.
  9. Ensure adherence to good safety standards.
  10. Maintain confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
  11. Model and maintain high ethical standards.
  12. Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
  13. Maintain expertise in assigned area to fulfill project goals and objectives.
  14. Participate successfully in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment.
  15. Keep Director informed of potential problems or unusual events.
  16. Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
  17. Exhibit interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member.
  18. Demonstrate support for the school system and its goals and priorities.
  19. Demonstrate initiative in identifying potential problems or opportunities for improvement.
  20. Assumes other reasonable and equitable job-related duties assigned by the immediate Director.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
  1. Ability to follow instructions and complete responsibilities guided by standard practices.
  2. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  4. Knowledge of sanitation and work safety procedures. Knowledge of food preparation procedures.
  5. Physical and emotional ability and dexterity to perform required work and move about as needed in a fast-paced, high-intensive work environment.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
