Due to the available budget allocated for this position, the hiring rate will not exceed $23.18 per hour.

Why does the job exist?

The Child Support Legal Assistant I will:
  • Interview, gather data and prepare legal documents to establish paternity;
  • Establish child and medical support orders and enforce child, medical and spousal support orders.


How does it get done?

The Child Support Legal Assistant I is responsible for:
  • Providing excellent time management, multitasking and organizational skills in order to complete the tasks of establishing and enforcing court orders;
  • Testifying in court regarding a child support case upon request by an Attorney.

  • Child Support Services Division (CSSD) management;
  • Child Support Services Division (CSSD) Attorneys.


Ideal Candidate

The Ideal Candidate has experience:
  • Preparing and interpreting Legal Documents;
  • Providing excellent Customer Service;
  • Handling high volume of cases and meeting deadlines;
  • Testifying as an expert witness;
  • Reviewing and preparing financial documents.


Minimum Qualification

High School Diploma or Equivalent and four (4) years of experience in legal research or legal document preparation, accounting, finance or social, health or human service program development or delivery and/or clerical experience in a Child Support Office may substitute for education on a month-for-month basis. Employment Requirements

Employment is subject to a pre-employment criminal history background investigation and is conditional pending results.

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Defensive Driving Certificate

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. May need to testify in court hearings.
