Job Description

Our 1-year new childcare center is within the newly renovated Collective which is beautifully situated on the Rock River. The Y's Ehlinger Center workout facility is located downstairs with a full YMCA facility currently being constructed adjacent and scheduled to open later in 2025.
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Direct program operations of the childcare center that are known to encourage physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual growth in a safe and nurturing environment that is recognized as meeting accreditation standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood development, education, or related field required.
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in program administration/education, required. Staff management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of state childcare licensing, NAC and Young Star accreditation requirements.
  • Willingness to attend meetings, training, and obtain additional certification as requested.


Essential Functions

  • Direct day-to-day operations of the childcare center.
  • Develop and maintain curriculum plans for childcare center. Implement character values of caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and developmental assets into curriculum. Ensure implementation through lesson plans.
  • Hire, train, evaluate and supervise staff and volunteers in accordance with Association Human Resource procedures and policies.
  • Assure state licensing, NAC, and Young Stars accreditation standards and requirements are adhered to within all licensed childcare programs. Maintain favorable communications and compliance statements with the Department of Children and Family Services.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor program budget in accordance with Association Finance Department procedures and policies.
  • Promptly respond to all emergency situations by adhering to the current emergency procedure guidelines and participate in ‘Manager on Duty’ schedule.
