The center's primary objective is to serve as an academic hub for thought leadership and for the emergence of novel solutions to support the Homeland Security Enterprise (HSE) in its efforts to effectively predict, detect, identify, monitor, track, disrupt, thwart, and ultimately dismantle Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs) and other illicit actors. The center advances science while pursuing the development of cutting-edge solutions and innovative educational and training activities to support today's and tomorrow's DHS workforce. About the Position:
The Criminal Investigations and Network Analysis Center (CINA) Education and Workforce Development Lead builds and manages the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) education and workforce development activities of the center. These activities help educate and train the current and future homeland security workforce in science and engineering professions to enhance the capabilities and effectiveness of the homeland security community. The focus of this role is to train existing professionals and cultivate Homeland Security Enterprise (HSE)-critical skills and experience among current students through a variety of projects, programs, and events. This position is essential to successfully execute the education and workforce development aspect of the center's mission.

About the Position:
The Criminal Investigations and Network Analysis Center (CINA) Education and Workforce Development Lead builds and manages the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) education and workforce development activities of the center. These activities help educate and train the current and future homeland security workforce in science and engineering professions to enhance the capabilities and effectiveness of the homeland security community. The focus of this role is to train existing professionals and cultivate Homeland Security Enterprise (HSE)-critical skills and experience among current students through a variety of projects, programs, and events. This position is essential to successfully execute the education and workforce development aspect of the center's mission.
Responsibilities:
- Establishes DHS and component human capital and workforce needs as they relate to the CINA mission, and develops, executes, manages, and measures plans and programs to meet those needs with a focus on financial sustainability and revenue generation for CINA and George Mason University;
- Leads the design, development, and implementation of CINA-relevant George Mason academic credentials;
- Manages the identification, development, and delivery of CINA-relevant George Mason professional training (online and face-to-face) in coordination with DHS training efforts, both for Federal employees, as well as for their state, local, tribal law, and international law enforcement partners;
- Plans and manages workshops and seminars to include annual Minority Serving Institutions (MSI) events, and career development activities for students;
- Leads coordination of visiting fellows and interns with government and industry; and
- Directly supervises wage, student wage, GRA's or other support staff if necessary.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Must be a U.S. citizen;
- Experience working in a higher education setting;
- Knowledge or experience (or a combination of the two) in a field related to CINA's Countering Transnational Organized Crime mission;
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with a diverse audience of stakeholders and collaborators from various disciplines in academia, government, and industry;
- Ability in time-management and organization to coordinate multiple programs, trainings, and workforce development related events; and
- Skill in supporting and fostering an environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and high-quality customer service.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with DHS research programs, especially the DHS Centers of Excellence;
- Demonstrated ability and experience in program or project management; and
- Skill in developing and managing various aspects of workforce development programs, preferably in a U.S. Government setting.
