POSITION TITLE: Promotions Work Study

POSITION DEFINITION: A project-based work study position with Cincinnati State's Marketing and Communications Department that enables the student to experience an office environment and put into practice skills learned throughout his/her Cincinnati Stater curriculum.

LEVEL OF ASSIGNMENT: Student may or may not need server access, depending on their talent in video production.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: This student(s) assists with a variety of tasks throughout the semester, including event set-up and promotional inventory management, but will also manage and execute projects under his/her own discretion with the guidance of Marketing Department staff.

REPORTS TO: Jackie Norton, Manager of Traditional Marketing and Creative

PROJECT RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Promotional Events: The Promotions Work Study helps execute promotional events on campus - this could include setting up backdrops and signage, filling balloons with helium, coordinating giveaways and raffle prizes, etc.
  2. Promotional Writing Projects: student should plan on writing and managing the collection of student profiles for use on the website. The Marketing Department will be writing College brochures and advertisements for TV, Radio, and Transit, with which the intern is welcome to assist.
  3. Promotional Video Projects: if skilled, the Promotions Work study can create video student profiles for the College's website. Additionally, instructional videos are being created to promote Marketing services.
  4. Promotional Premiums: The organization and inventory of promotional items for use by the College. Shelving will need to be re-installed in the storage area and existing inventory organized before new items arrive. The Promotions Work Study will assist with this project, which could include heavy lifting in enclosed storage areas. Additionally, they help with the distribution of boxes of promotional premium items to departments campus-wide.
  5. Research: Time permitting, work study students will manage on-going research / collecting marketing information and providing competitive analysis about local, regional and national 2-year colleges

QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal Promotions Work Study position is a Marketing Management or Audio Video Production student. Qualified candidates should have completed courses such as Project Management, Marketing 101 and English composition, and has some photography /videography skills.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES: Additional desired skills include digital photography and videography, including basic editing; experience with consumer level graphic design (such as Canva or Spark) or knowledge of other graphic design software. Microsoft Office suite is a necessity. This is a very physically demanding job and requires the ability to climb stairs and carry / lift 35 - 50 pounds. Student should possess excellent communication skills (especially listening), social media savvy, data organization and communication, time management, and a positive attitude.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a high school graduate or have attained a GED. Must be at least 16 years old.

For Federal Work Study funds must:

1. Student must have completed a FAFSA for the current school year.

2. Student must meet and continue to meet Satisfactory Academic Progress

3. The student must be a United States citizen or eligible non-citizen.

4. The student must demonstrate financial need.

Hourly Pay: $14.00 per hour

Location: Clifton Campus

Hours: Up to 20 hours weekly - Monday - Friday between the hours of 9 am and 4:30 pm.

Reports to: Business Division

Students may not work during their scheduled class times.
