By 2025 we're hiring 2,000 people (like you) to join our team. Stantec's team has an immediate opportunity for a Civil Engineer-in-Training in our Nashville, Tennessee office. As a Civil EIT you will provide comprehensive engineering services to Stantec clients for a variety of infrastructure projects.
Your Opportunity
As a Civil EIT on our Nashville team, you will work on projects both small and large, and as a team member under the close guidance and supervision of a senior engineer. You will perform a variety of tasks related to infrastructure projects which may include dams, levees and floodwalls, roadways and bridges, landfills, power facilities, etc. hat may include calculations, field work, coordination of simple tasks, and meeting attendance and recording. The smaller projects that an entry level civil engineer may be assigned to will have relatively few complex features.
In general, an entry level civil engineer will assist more senior engineers/designers by performing the routine aspects of civil engineering assignments.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Assisting technical staff with various project tasks, including researching, compiling and evaluating site civil project data
- Performing earthwork and drainage calculations for design projects, along with exposure to CAD and GIS, and cross-training into other civil disciplines
- Assisting team in preparing civil designs, drawings, specifications, presentations, and reports.
- Assisting in project administration including gathering project information, drafting proposals, drafting correspondence, tracking project costs, and completing progress reports
- Performing site visits to collect field data, and construction observations
- Assisting in supporting the civil team in providing support services during construction that can include submittal reviews, responses to requests for information and contract document clarifications
- Complete other engineering/administrative duties, as required
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- An understanding of civil engineering concepts and analysis methods.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Ability to interpret sketches, engineering drawings, and other similar material.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Basic experience in Microsoft Office, and familiarity with AutoCAD Civil3D and GIS software
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and execute tasks efficiently
- Willingness to travel and perform field work, when needed for the project
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering. Masters prepared candidates are preferred.
- Must have taken and successfully passed the FE exam and be an EIT.
- Minimum of 0-3 years of experience.
- Co-op/Internship experience preferred.
- Travel/field work 10-20% of the time
