Job Description

AECOM Technical Services, Inc. has multiple openings for a Civil Engineer to be based in Dallas, TX.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Use advanced modeling and engineering techniques to perform 2D and 3D roadway design per agreed upon schedule and budget.
  • Work autonomously on small projects or portions of larger projects using appropriate discretion in determining work priorities based on manager's and team lead's directions.
  • Provide guidance to entry-level engineers and interns.
  • Apply critical thinking and analytical skills while reviewing, interpreting, and applying applicable criteria or design standards in the design of roadway infrastructure projects.
  • Review and assist in preparation of responses to contractor requests for additional information and interact with clients to identify and review needs.
  • Plan production, develop plan view, profiles, detail sheets, cross sections, quantity takeoff and cost estimate calculations, while performing self-checks of work before submitting deliverables to others.
  • Design roadway horizontal and vertical alignment for rural and urban mainlanes, frontage roads, ramps, local roads, cross streets and driveways and develop detailed construction plan sheets to satisfy project requirements and governing criteria including bridge vertical clearance calculations.
  • Develop 3D models for use in production of cross section views and proposed Digital Terrain Models.
  • Prepare design documentation, reports, and memorandum.
  • Communicate and meet with project managers directly to define needs and clarify scope requirements.
  • Perform review of contractor as-built drawings for compliance with signed and sealed drawings.
  • Develop and utilize automation tools and techniques involving shortcuts and newly released CAD tools to better optimize design.
  • Plan production workflow while creating supporting documentation and share within the team.
  • Prepare construction cost estimate spreadsheets.
  • Develop various components of the roadway plans set.
  • May telecommute.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Candidates must have a Master's degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field, and 2 years of experience in the job offered, or in an engineering-related occupation.

Position requires:

1.  Roadway or Drainage design;

2.  HEC-RAS;

3.  ArcGIS;

4.  PondPack;

5.  MS Office including Excel, Word and standard office software; and

6.  Hydraulic and hydrological analysis.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $78,000.00 - $120,000.00.
