The WI Department of Transportation (WisDOT), Division of Transportation System Development (DTSD) is seeking an interested and qualified individual to fill a Project Development Supervisor (Civil Engineer Transportation Supervisor) vacancyin the Southeast Region!

This full-time position will be headquartered in Waukesha, WI.

Position Summary

This is an Engineering Supervisor position in the Southeast Region, Project Development Section working under the general supervision of a DOT Engineering Section Chief. This unit is responsible for the region's Local Program Unit and aligning to meet region delivery and system management goals while operating within relevant laws and statutes. This position is responsible for professional and technical oversight; participation in and/or approve project decisions; and coordinate with other regional supervisors to maintain a working knowledge of current activities, issues, and decisions related to the improvement program. This position performs administrative and supervisory functions in the field of engineering and is responsible for the supervision of professional and technical staff that provide support for engineering related functions.

This position's primary role is to achieve program objectives by interpreting and applying policy within its programmatic area and directly supervising a staff of professional and technical positions. This includes coordinating staff and resources to meet program objectives; providing training and developmental opportunities to staff; applying technical expertise in decision-making; developing and implementing policy; and prioritizing, assigning, and monitoring work to meet project requirements and deadlines. Additionally, this position requires effective communication with internal and external partners, other agencies, consultants, and contractors.

Salary Information

This position is in schedule-range (81-30) with an annual salary of $101,171 - $118,456, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Qualifications

Minimum requirement - A valid Professional Engineering registration and be able to obtain a Wisconsin PE registration within 3 months if the PE registration is from another state.

Qualified applicants will have the following experience in addition to the minimum requirement.
  • Experience in transportation program or project management.
