Description

Under the direction of the Clinic Manager and Provider, cares for and treats patients in medical office. Prepares patient for and assists with examinations. Maintains records of vital statistics and other pertinent data of patient. Conducts specified testing or calls medical facility or department to schedule patients for tests. At times, may act as receptionist, performs secretarial duties. The Medical Assistant will comply with HIPAA and other federal, state and local regulations, as well as maintain highest degree of confidentiality in client and staff matters.

  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs, such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height, and records information on patient's charts.
  • Makes phone calls to patients regarding test results or medication changes.
  • Administers injections and medications, dresses wounds and incisions.
  • Rooms patients, obtains clinical information such as medication list, patient concerns, questions and height and weight.
  • Maintains skill level required to care for routine patients.
  • Anticipates patient needs and responds to patient requests promptly.
  • Able to successfully perform blood draws.
  • Able to enter information in EMR.
  • HIPAA compliance, facility compliance


Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Current Certification as a Medical Assistant required upon hire or obtained within 18 months from date of hire.
  • Previous experience in the same or similar position preferred.
  • BLS Certification Required
