This is a full time, salaried position located at Scripps Clinic Medical Center Jefferson in Oceanside . Generally Monday through Friday. Clinic hours are 7am-5pm. Eligible to participate in the Management Incentive Compensation Plan.

The Clinic Operations Supervisor supports the division of Ophthalmology/Optometry at Scripps Clinic Jefferson in Oceanside. Scripps ophthalmologists and optometrists provide comprehensive eye exams to diagnose and treat a full range of vision and eye problems, covering specialties such as Glaucoma, Retina, General Ophthalmology, Neuro Ophthalmology, Cornea, Oculoplastics and Optometry. The team at Jefferson is a tight-knit, established and knowledgeable group of individuals who support each other in career development and training. The Supervisor will oversee a team of 15, including Ophthalmic Techs, Patient Service Representatives, and Surgery Schedulers.

Responsibilities include:
  • Responsible for the oversight and leadership of the activities and functions of a department.
  • Participates in department strategic planning and contributes to its success through effectively communicating goals and expectations to staff.
  • Ensures effective use of system resources.
  • Provides functional expertise essential to staff and leadership.
  • Ensures expenses do not exceed budget.
  • Participates in standards of practice and process improvement activities.
  • Oversees staffing matrices and possesses authority to hire, conduct performance evaluations, and discipline employees.
  • Ensures policy and procedures are followed by staff.
  • Fill in as an Ophthalmic Tech as needed


Qualifications
Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
  • High School Diploma
  • 3 years of applicable experience in Ophthalmology
  • Ability to demonstrate competency skills in all ophthalmic testing modalities.
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, coordinate, train and evaluate staff.
  • Knowledge of healthcare business and operational practices.
  • Requires excellent skills in communication, problem-solving, team development, planning and follow-through.
  • Ability to exercise the authority and responsibility for assigned services based on the scope of the organization and complexity of patient care.
  • Strong computer skills, including knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and other applicable systems..
  • Accredited program in Ophthalmology/Optometry training

Required Certification/Registration:
  • Current BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification:
  • COA or COT
  • Bachelor�s Degree
