As a member of the School of Nursing Clinical Education Team, the Clinical Affiliation Coordinator is accountable to the faculty instructors of record and clinical program leadership to manage the clinical rotations for School of Nursing students across all clinical programs. This position serves as a member of the Clinical Education Team, under the leadership of the Clinical Affiliations Manager. This individual serves as a point of contact for the School between the clinical program students, the faculty, the clinical administrators of key high capacity community partners to ensure all protocols have been followed.
  • Develop, implement and oversee maintainance of engagement strategies for clinical partners for all clinical programs.
  • Independently develop complex marketing strategies, conduct cold calls/emails to prosppective clinical sites, and use strong consultative selling skills to establish partnerships that will be beneficial for all clinical programs.
  • Collabotrate with internal UC Davis Health departments, School of Nursing Alumni, and outside medical or community organizations in order to promote and develop clinical placements.
  • Analyze student clinical placement schedules to determine compliance requirements, and sequence student clinical activities appropriately in alignment with program directors' guidance.
  • Identify clinical partner site compliance agent(s) to learn particular policies and procedures regarding clearance, compliance, and access in accordance with existing legal agreements (affiliation agreements). Create a mechanism for tracking requiements and contacts of site. Ensure students meet clinical partner site requirements
  • Lead Coordinator in collaboration with clinical education team members, faculty instructors of record, and clinical program leadership to complete timely submission of clearance and compliance records to clinical entities for students. This includes:
  • Inform the students of key deadlines for the submission of important information, such as when health and background checks are due and/or how to obtain clearance on a military base.
  • Request , maintain and update student access at Clinical sites (EMR, building access, etc.); Liase with SON operations team as needed.
  • Collaborating with appropriate staff and faculty to manage any issues as they arise.
  • Provide data reports of current and past clinical rotations, including number of students, regional locations and sites. Analyze data and prepare reports on trends and areas in need of strengthening.

Required:

  • Experience working in a clinical environment or with clinical programs and/or partners.
  • Ability to independently manage a complex workload, prioritize tasks and use good judgment in providing services based on goals in a fast paced working environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to assess program needs, recognize opportunities, and to develop and monitor project timelines for clinical rotation implementation.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to understand a wide variety of complex activities in order to develop efficient procedures.
  • Demonstrated professional interpersonal skills to effectively communicate policies and procedures to a diverse population, including the students, the public, other university offices, faculty and staff in a pleasant, tactful, and effective manner and to relay information accurately.
  • Demonstrated skills to problem solve and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Excellent customer service skills to handle requests expediently with minimal direction. Ability to be responsive and service oriented.
  • Excellent verbal, writing and proofreading skills, to create correspondence, reports and keep accurate records.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and to re-arrange plans and procedures as necessary to meet strict deadlines.
  • Demonstrated professional skills to work in open area with regular interruptions, constant traffic and conversation, while maintaining consistent and accurate work output.
  • Ability to wor independently and as a team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive or difficult situations diplomatically.
  • Experience working in a medical and academic setting maintaining professional environment and ensuring strict confidentiality.
  • Mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, divide, calculate percentages, and determine various statistics.
  • Knowledge and skills to create, update and maintain electronic filing systems.
  • Ability to work a standard 8 hour work day schedule with occassional nights and weekends as mandated by program needs.
  • Demonstrated skill/knowledge to work in a PC networked-environment. Demonstrated skills and ability to utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Excellent typing skill and knowledge of general office procedures. Ability to learn new software programs aas needed. Ability to use computer hardwar such as scanners, laser printers, etc.
