Position Description

Advertised Job Summary
The University of South Caroline School of Medicine Columbia is looking for an Assistant Program Director for the Doctorate of Nurse Anesthesia Practice located in Greenville, S.C.

The Assistant Program Director will work in coordination with the Program Director to assure the matriculants are provided with the didactic and clinical education to complete the Doctorate of Nurse Anesthesia Practice from the USC School of Medicine- Greenville, and that they will be eligible to write the Certification Exam from the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists.
  • Will provide Leadership and supervision to students by coordinating and integrating services with in the School of Nurse Anesthesia( USC School of Medicine), Prisma Health Richland or Greenville Hospital System.
  • Will work together with the Director to ensure that the program complies with the Standards and Guidelines of Nurse Anesthesia programs.
  • Will actively participate in the recruiting, interviewing and selection process for admitting qualified registered nurse to the program, as well as any other committees developed for the Program.
  • Will work together with the Director to plan, develop and implement didactic courses that comply with the Standards and Guidelines of Nurse Anesthesia programs and the USC Graduate School.
  • Manage department human resources by determining qualifications, competence and performance expectations of students and staff.
  • Assist with providing orientation, in-service training and continuing education of all persons in the department and apply policies and procedures pertaining to the human resources management.
  • Assist in the assessment and improvement of the department's performance by monitoring performance through data, analyzing data, and implementing performance improvement.
  • Will assume responsibilities for the Doctorate of Nurse Anesthesia Practice in the Program Director's absence.
  • Supervisory duties will include supervision of students enrolled in the School of Nurse Anesthesia - Greenville who are registered nurses in the State of South Carolina.
Required Education and Experience
  • Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Anesthesia program
  • Licensure, Registry, Certifications: Certification or recertification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the Council on Certification.
  • Non-disciplined license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in the state of South Carolina
  • Minimum of five year clinical experience as a Certified Nurse Anesthetist. Must be experienced in the anesthetic management variety of patients and procedures.
  • Must be able to work with various computer programs for the purpose of education and scheduling students
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in supervision of student nurse anesthetists. Leadership and educational experience. Prior didactic teaching experience
