Position Description

Advertised Job Summary

The Department of Drug Discovery and Biomedical Sciences (DDBS), University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy, Columbia, South Carolina is seeking a temporary faculty in a full-time professional track teaching position at the level of Clinical Assistant, Clinical Associate, or Clinical Professor. The successful candidate will teach pathophysiology and pharmacology in the professional pharmacy curriculum to first, second, and third year PharmD students.

Will be responsible for the preparation and teaching a total of approximately 60-80 didactic lecture hours to PharmD students per year in team-taught courses. This individual will serve as course coordinator for one or two courses per semester. Opportunity also exists for the incumbent to participate in the development of other undergraduate courses as well as an undergraduate degree program in pharmaceutical sciences. Initial appointment level and salary will be commensurate with experience and determined at the time of hiring.

This temporary appointment will begin on 07/15/2024 and ends 07/01/2025. This temporary position includes health insurance and retirement benefits with the potential for renewal based on positive performance review after each year.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a Ph.D., PharmD, or equivalent degree, with preference of prior experience teaching in the professional curriculum of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy in the United States. Teaching expertise and experience in the general areas of pathophysiology and pharmacology are preferred. The candidate must have excellent oral and written communication skills, along with the organizational skills necessary to serve as the course director of assigned courses.
