Summary:
The Nuclear Medicine Clinical Associate demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation. This individual, under general supervision and/or detailed instructions, assists the medical, technical, and nursing staff in the transport and preparation of patients, maintains procedure rooms and work areas, and is responsible for inventory control. (S)he maintains appropriate records in accordance with regulatory agencies and may perform patient care duties such as, EKGs and patient vital signs.

Has clinical contact with patients in all age groups ( infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric) and is able to appropriately assess, care for and treat them according to the age appropriate care guidelines as defined by Covenant HealthCare.
Works under the direction of physician, Nuclear Medicine Technologist and/or registered nurse. Assists technologists, nurses and/or physicians in performing procedures, documents relevant information, and processes data media via computer, etc. Consults with Radiologist on completed exams; processes report
Reviews medical charts for pertinent history and relevant lab values; obtains clinical history; prepares/interviews and explains procedure to patients under his/her care.
Prepares procedure rooms and equipment.
Transports patients to and from the Imaging and Diagnostic Services Department if needed.
Ensures appropriateness of order; processes orders as required; charges supplies and exams; responsible for inventory control and stocking linen.
Demonstrates knowledge of radiation safety, hospital safety and infection control policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and clean environment. Follows proper procedures for sterilization and follows procedure for cleaning up contaminated materials and supplies.
Preserves patients' privacy and maintains confidentiality of patients' information. Ensures that services are provided in accordance with state and Federal regulations, organizational policy, and accreditation / compliance requirements.
Anticipates customer needs and provides services to all customers, including patients, physicians, hospital departments, and staff. Coordinates requests for services, information, records, and data on a timely basis. Researches and resolves problems.
Ensures that patients, their families, visitors, and employees are treated with kindness and respect. Demonstrates teamwork and integrity in all work-related activities. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the organization. Attends mandatory internal and external meetings and in-services as required.
Maintains proficiency in all computer functionality necessary to perform job duties(RIS, PACS, QC, email, etc.)
Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent
BCLS certification
Previous 12 months experience with direct patient care required.
Six months or more PC/computer experience required.
Previous experience in radiology services preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Completed medical terminology course or its equivalent.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel and the public.
Proven ability to work independently.
Demonstrates excellent customer service.
Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques.
Time management and organizational skills. Self directed.
Ability to make quality, independent decisions. Analytical and strong problem solving skills.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions.
