Description

The University of Chicago’s Department of Pediatrics, Section of Critical Care Medicine, seeks experienced, part-time Clinical Associates at 10% effort for a renewable two-year term who will provide coverage for the Comer Children’s Hospital PICU and Sedation Services. This position does not require teaching or scholarly activity. Compensation is dependent on qualifications; the position is not benefits-eligible.

The Section of Pediatric Critical Care has 16 full-time faculty members, a fully accredited fellowship program, and a 30 bed PICU. The Section also runs the Pediatric Sedation and Palliative Care Services. Faculty members are actively involved in research, quality improvement, and medical education initiatives. The PICU has approximately 1600 annual admissions with continued annual increase in volume over the past 5 years. We are the only level I Pediatric Trauma Center on the South Side of Chicago and the hospital is designated a Magnet hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, a national honor that recognizes nursing excellence. Additionally, we are an ELSO Center of Excellence at the Gold Level.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent degree, 2) be eligible for permanent medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, 4) have cared for complex and critically ill infants, children, and adolescents during the past five years, and 5) have a commitment to excellence in patient care and medical education.
