General Summary of Position

We are actively recruiting for a Clinical Critical Care Pharmacy Manager to join our leadership team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC.

Under the general management of the Director of Pharmacy, the Clinical Critical Care Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the administration, coordination and supervision of critical care pharmaceutical services at MGUH. The selected leader will identify, resolve, prevent drug-related problems, and conducts clinical activities. The Critical Care Clinical Manager will assist the Director of Pharmacy in setting departmental goals, delivering and advancing the clinical and distributive pharmacy services by interacting with health care providers, patients, and family, as appropriate to ensure continuity of services and to achieve desired positive patient outcomes through safe, efficient, cost-effective drug therapy. The Clinical Critical Care Pharmacy Manager will oversee the critical care pharmacy satellite and report to both the Pharmacy manager and the Director of Pharmacy.

Minimum Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor's degree BS in Pharmacy and Master's degree required or
  • Doctoral degree Pharm.D required

Experience
  • 3 years in a hospital pharmacy with at least 2 years' pharmacy practice management experience in a comprehensive, contemporary pharmaceutical care setting required

Licenses and Certifications
  • PHARMD - Licensed Pharmacist - DC license required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of the theory and practice of critical care pharmacy service, good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate and maintain knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care for the adult, adolescent, pediatric and neonatal patients that involve the use of drugs.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge in understanding of changes in physiology in various age groups, understanding of drug pharmacokinetics and toxicities in the various age, and understanding of proper selection of drugs.
