Job Description:
  • PURPOSE OF JOB : The Clinical Dietitian serves as a representative in patient nutritional care activities. This includes monitoring the screening process, providing accurate nutritional assessments, developing realistic and measurable care plans, monitoring the nutritional status of patients, counseling of patients and families on special nutritional requirements, consulting with other health care team members (physician, nurse, pharmacist, social worker, etc.) as appropriate.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
  • Provides nutritional care to patients through the effective and proficient use of the Nutrition Care Process.
  • Provides effective nutrition counseling to patients and patient's families.
  • Acts as Patient Nutrition Advocate when formulating care plans and communicating patient nutritional needs to other team members.
  • Provides a leadership role in the area of nutrition - is recognized and sought out within the facility and community as "The Nutrition Expert".
  • Provides effective management on the floor to which he/she is assigned.
Job Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS :
  • Education: Minimum of BS. Degree in Clinical Dietetics. Registered with the American Dietetic Association Commission on Dietetic Registration or RD eligible with registration attained within one year after hire date. Holds Pennsylvania state licensure as Dietitian/Nutritionist.
  • Experience: One year in the field of clinical dietetics preferred.
  • Other Skills: Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively and courteously with patients, family, visitors and members of the health care team. Needs to work in a self-directed manner. Ability to concentrate on very technical work with high level of accuracy.
