Job Summary

Responsible for LifeFlight educational design, plan, implementation and evaluation processes and academic programs. Manages all aspects of the LifeFlight critical care education, collaborates with NCHS Clinical Educators & Specialists to ensure standardization of clinical practice. Responsible to provide clinical staff with initial and ongoing education, clinical development, promote an error free care environment, research advocate, and assures the provision of quality nursing care. Provides compassionate patient and family centered care and upholds the quality standards of a Magnet designated hospital and Patient Bill of Rights. Practices under the supervision of the Nursing Manager/Director.

Job Specific Duties

  • Consults with staff regarding individual learning needs and delivers competence-based program with a focus on improvement of skills and retention of knowledge.
  • Mentors new and current employees to improve performance, clinical outcomes and identifies clinical strengths and opportunities. Partners with leaders to foster empowerment and open communication.
  • Develops, oversees, and coordinates yearly educational plan for LifeFlight and Transfer Center.
  • Identifies and recruits internal and external resources (nurse, physician, and other specialists) for educational activities.
  • Assesses learning needs, develops, implements, and coordinates continuing education, competency sessions such as remediation, certification, mentoring, CAMTS, equipment, and supplies.
  • Coordinates the onboarding of new hires, buddy assignments, standardization of the onboarding, and training of LifeFlight staff.
  • Audits documentation, monitors skills clinical skills performance and clinical practice of LifeFlight Nurses, Paramedics, and EMTs.
  • Mentors and engages staff in quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes as demonstrated by higher CEI and SEI.
  • Supports regulatory readiness through education to drive quality improvement.
  • Provides leadership in system-wide implementation of quality improvements and innovations.
  • Recognizes and communicates changes in clinical practice consistent with organizational standards.
  • Analyzes data and outcomes in order to make recommendations on process improvements and changes to current practice to achieve desired outcomes using PI processes.
  • Remains current and at the cutting edge of trends in pediatric/neonatal transport practice. Shares and disseminates information across the institution and the community.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures and programs which assure the provision of quality nursing care based upon Evidence Based Practice (EBP).


Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing (Required)
  • RN - Registered Nurse RN Licensure within the State of Florida or Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact (eNLC) - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
  • OTHER American Heart Association (AHA) BLS - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment.
  • OTHER American Heart Association (AHA) PALS required within 2 years of hire - maintain active and in good standing throughout employment.
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program
  • ACLS - American Heart Association ACLS within 1 year of hire
  • OTHER Completion of Florida DOT AMCCC
  • OTHER National certification (CFRN, CCRN, CEN, CPEN, CNPT, CPN, CMTE, CTRN) within 18 months of hire.
  • 2-4 years pediatric flight nursing, critical care and or emergency services nursing experience in a hospital setting
  • Minimum of 2000 hours of Level II or Level III NICU experience
