Job Summary:

The Clinical Informatics Manager plans, organizes, directs, implements, and administers all functions and activities of the Clinical & Business Technology department. Additionally, this role serves as the liaison and builds collaborative relationships between the Clinical & Business Technology team, clinicians, digital systems teams, and operational staff to ensure the optimum design/use of technology and workflows for patient safety, quality, patient experience, resource efficiency, clinical satisfaction, and revenue capture.

This role must be able to direct team members, collaborate with multiple disciplines, and manage myriad types of projects. The Clinical Informatics Manager also provides support for NCH interdisciplinary system users and teams, which will include troubleshooting and working to find solutions to complex problems. The types of projects will span all work areas of the hospital: inpatient, outpatient, clinical, and administrative functions as well as various types of technologies.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop departmental goals, objectives, and processes in collaboration with NCH clinical and operational leadership.

• Plan, manage, and oversee team and projects in an organized, transparent, and thorough fashion.

• Fosters collaboration and leadership on program priorities and activities.

• Works closely with multiple disciplines including support, training, Digital Systems, and Digital Health eCare (DHeC) for optimization of software, systems implementations, and upgrades.

• Assist with quality and safety topics that may arise at NCH and work closely with operational leaders as well as the NCH/MGB Dept of Quality and Safety.

• Responsible for enabling key business processes by analyzing and articulating current state workflows, identifying opportunities to optimize workflows, identifying barriers, and developing solutions for optimization.

• Requires a strong understanding of Epic, clinical and business operations, and governing policies/regulations.

• Facilitates organization-wide efforts / change initiatives across disciplines and departments.

• Understands project timelines and scope to engage staff members on a variety of levels to promote participation and partnership in Clinical & Business technology work.

• Develop a deep understanding of Mass General Brigham Epic system build, workflows, reporting, and data structure which includes the training of end-users.

• Designs, develops, oversees, and manages data collection, data analysis and data interpretation for hospital-wide strategic initiatives in order to deliver optimal quality of care.

• Work to cultivate strong, positive relationships with clinical and administrative departments as well as Mass General Brigham team member counterparts.

• May provide onsite or phone support to operational users, thus there is an expectation that the role will require working days (primarily during regular business hours), with occasional evenings, nights and weekends as needed.

• Help create a positive project team environment.

• Intermittently act as on-call support for end users with urgent issues.

• Will perform as admin on call as necessary.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Strong analytical skills.

• Knowledge of healthcare quality, safety and satisfaction data design, collection, aggregation, and summarization; and advanced knowledge of performance improvement models, methods, and systems.

• Thrive in learn-as-you-go environment.

• Proven ability to coordinate a diverse group of individuals and work effectively with multiple teams.

• Ability to manage projects in both a direct and matrix reporting environment.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to assist team members and end users in calm and professional manner.

• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office programs required.

• Strong project management and people skills with effective communication and organization required.

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in healthcare a plus (RN, PA, NP, MD, MPH/MBA, etc.).

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare environment. Epic experience preferred.

• Experience in project management, group facilitation, delivering presentations, and comfortable managing teams in a project-based environment.

• Clinical Informatics or Project Management certifications preferred.

Special Requirements

• Travel to Boston or within the Mass General Brigham system may be required for certain projects.

• Must be available to work in the case of a Hospital declared emergency.
