The Department of Anesthesiology, at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, seeks candidates for a tenure-ineligible clinical Instructor position (s). This one-year post-graduate program is designed to give advanced clinical, technical, and research training in the fields of either education, neuro, regional, or quality anesthesia. This training opportunity is held in one of the premier academic communities in the country. Locations will include the University of Virginia Medical Center and the Outpatient Surgical Center. Clinical work will be comprised of one or two days per week of general anesthesia and four or three days of training (in your desired area of advanced specialty training). Additional time will be allocated to research endeavors and conference attendance. In addition, you will be eligible to participate in our clinical shift differential program which is a payment for covering after hours and weekend work.

The department manages close to 60,000 cases in approximately 65 anesthetic locations, which includes the main operating rooms and an ambulatory surgical center and a new orthopedic hospital/OR. The department is also recognized as a Center for Excellence by the American Pain Society and our Pain Clinic has approximately 10,000 patient visits. The department also staffs three critical care units (NNICU, TCV, and STICU).

Qualified candidates must have an MD or equivalent and have completed a residency in Anesthesiology. Qualified candidates must be American Board of Anesthesiology certified or certification-eligible.
