Job Description

SCOPE OF POSITION
The Clinical Instructor (C.I.) must be a registered radiologic technologist R.T. with 4 years professional experience at the health care facility. The C.I. must demonstrate knowledge of educational methodologies relating to the supervision and evaluation of students in the clinical setting. The C.I. must be an employee of the facility. The C.I. will be afforded sufficient time for continuing education and other instructor responsibilities.
The C.I. will maintain professional skills at the highest level and exhibit proficiency in aspects of Diagnostic Imaging directly affecting student technologists. The C.I. will occasionally supervise diagnostic x-ray.
The C.I. will provided a meaningful clinical education experience reflective of a clinical competency based system and will be responsible for the day to day instruction given to the students. The C.I. should enlist the services of other qualified professionals to ensure students receive a well-rounded educational experience.
The C.I. will be responsible for the maintenance of student attendance records, daily work area assignments and working shifts, as well as, perform competency evaluations and complete additional evaluation instruments on students according to the schedule provided by the program.
The C.I. will ensure that the Diagnostic Imaging Director and ETSU's Program Director are informed of all student activities effecting clinical performance, patient care and ethical practices. Student grievances will be dealt with and solved insofar as possible and the C.I. will communicate with the Director, Lead Technologist or Program Director directly, depending the circumstance.
Time not directly involved with training student activities will be used to perform the duties and responsibilities of a R.T. as assigned by the Lead Radiologic Technologist.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree in Radiology Technology and/or a graduate of Radiologic Technology Program recognized by the American College of Radiology, Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum four year experience as a staff technologist and a demonstrated knowledge of the educational methodologies relating to the supervision and evaluation of students in the clinical setting. 4 years experience as a radiologic technologist or 4 years of leadership experience required.
