The Opportunity

We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Clinical Lead Medical Assistant to support our Center for Women's Health and Wellness. This is an onsite position with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.

The Center for Women's Health and Wellness is located in the state-of-the-art building on the Wentworth Health Partners' Pease campus - 67 Corporate Drive, Portsmouth, NH 03801. This dynamic team brings together expert OB/GYN physicians and midwives, along with nurse navigators to help women manage all aspects of their care. This practice offers comprehensive, personalized care for all stages of a woman's life in an atmosphere of privacy and trust.

Reporting to the Practice Manager, the Clinical Lead Medical Assistant is responsible for the leadership, oversight, and improvement of clinical operations and clinical staff within the practice. The position entails performing the duties of a clinical support staff member while simultaneously serving as a mentor, resource, and lead for the rest of the staff. This position acts as a liaison between the site-based clinical staff, operations leadership, and clinical leadership.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintains clinical supplies and equipment to include overseeing clinical staff member responsible for ordering of medical supplies.
  • Coordinates provider schedules and patient appointments, which includes training clinical staff on the use of the practice management software and maintaining clinical staff knowledge of scheduling guidelines as dictated by the providers.
  • Assists providers and clinical staff, as necessary, in assisting with clinical issues, coordinating patient tests, etc.
  • Complies with and enforces all established WDH policies, procedures and protocols as well as any department-specific policies and procedures as they relate to the job functions of the clinical staff.
  • Participates and ensures full compliance, as appropriate, and is knowledgeable in fire, safety, disaster, infection control and other mandatory programs, including full compliance to applicable regulatory and Joint Commission guidelines.
  • Assists the Practice Manager in interviewing and selecting clinical candidates for employment.
  • Orients and trains all clinical medical assistant employees and is the designated preceptor for new medical assistant staff.
  • Leads, plans, attends and actively participates in clinical meetings, provider meetings and hospital-wide committees or meetings as requested.
  • Assists and makes recommendations to the Practice Manager in the preparation of the annual clinical budget including all clinical capital purchases.
  • Implements processes that will facilitate and improve the team's efforts to manage and improve clinical outcomes for selected patient populations, other PI projects identified within the office.
  • Assists Practice Manager in creating and implementing tracking mechanisms that are aimed at monitoring the monthly and on-going efficiency and proper workflow of the practices.
  • Performs a variety of patient care procedures within the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
  • Must meet all aspects of medical assistant job description and performance standards.
  • In the absence of the Practice Manager, review all employee and provider timesheets for accuracy.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant training program required.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of related experience and or training in similar practice/field.
  • Experience as clinical leader setting; previous clinical coordinator role or equivalent, preferably Women's Health or OBGYN experience preferred.
  • May be hired with CPR certification but must obtain BLS within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to operate independently with minimum supervision; ability to set priorities and meet deadlines; ability to tactfully interact with diverse personalities.
  • Certification (CMA) or Registration (RMA) required within one year
