Jamaica Hospital Medical Center (JHMC) located in Queens, New York, is seeking a Clinical Nurse Manager Oncology to join its expanding Cancer program and related collaboration with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC).

Many of the patients seen at JHMC face challenges rooted in the social determinants of health; many are non-English speaking and/or recent immigrants.

Medical Oncology/Hematology care has been identified as an immediate recruitment priority in support of this exciting and innovative new collaboration.

Responsibilities:

The Clinical Nurse Manager role involves a combination of administrative tasks and direct patient care. The Clinical Nurse Manager will work primarily in an outpatient clinic setting within regular office hours, with occasional flexibility required to address emergencies or changing patient needs.

The Clinical Nurse Manager of Oncology will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the department as well as:

• Training and managing nursing staff as well as collaborating with other healthcare professionals in the department to develop patient care plans.
• Plan, direct, and evaluate the overall nursing care and activities of nursing unit.
• Assess, monitor, and educate the nursing staff on patient care. Institute emergency procedures as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety guidelines. They will also assist in budgeting and department finances.
• Ensure that patient care is provided in accordance with evidence-based practices, protocols, and established standards.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for further training and education.
• Monitor patient outcomes and provide interventions as necessary to ensure the best possible patient experience and outcomes.
• Implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and optimize departmental processes.
• Monitor and assess patient satisfaction and feedback, making adjustments as needed to improve service delivery.
• Ensure that staff members are up to date with certification and competencies required for their roles.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

• Registered Nurse (RN) with current NYS license.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required, Master's degree in nursing preferred.
• Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) strongly preferred.
• Proven experience in Oncology Nursing with a minimum of 3 years of clinical experience.
• Management or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting
• Strong knowledge of oncology treatment, medication, and procedures.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
