The role you'll contribute: Medical Assistant - Clinical Supervisor

The Clinical Supervisor, under limited supervision, is responsible for providing hands-on clinical care to patients as well as training, directing, and guiding back office staff in monitoring and expediting workflow. This position helps in ensuring the back-office operations of the office function smoothly and that staff are adhering to clinical policies and procedures. Performs a wide variety of patient care activities and accommodates services for the physicians and the practice, following established standard, practices, policies, and procedures.

Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities :

Leader

• Serves as the supervisor for Medical Assistants and/or other staff as required. May not Supervise LPN's or RN's.

• Serves as effective mentor and educational resource to staff

• Serves as a lead regarding billing or coding issues at the practice.

• Participates in interviewing applicants, conducting employee discipline and attends required supervisor training per AHMG leadership requirements

• Responsible for PSQA/Care Gap Closure Scores

• Responsible for ensuring clinical employees' licensure and certification and office licensure is up to date

Safety/Whole care

• Must maintain education requirements for position and demonstrate competency, as required

• Responsible for PSQA scores

• Is responsible for maintaining OSHA regulatory enforcement and other office compliance

• Follows safety processes and policies to ensure appropriate care is given

• Provides and ensures patients receive whole care in all aspects of an office visit, regarding intake, test results, screenings, labs, medication administration, closure of care gaps, and all aspects necessary following AHMG policies.

Efficiency

• Ensures efficient office flow by preparing patient and equipment for the needed treatment and initiates testing and documents results into the practice's designated system when appropriate.
  • Clinical competencies must be passed 2 x per year
    • May include written test
    • Must stay up to date and familiar with all policies

Responsible to submit all required biannual documents to maintain status

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• EMR Superuser

• Must take required clinical supervisor courses per AHMG leadership requirements

• Must be familiar with PCMH standards

• Must be familiar with Quality metrics

• Knowledge of health care field and medical terminology

• Knowledge of chronic disease management

• Knowledge of and ability to utilize internal and external resources

• Expertise in patient advocacy and navigating complex systems

• Ability to function and assist others in stressful, fast-paced environments and effectively apply stress management techniques

• Ability to resolve issues and work independently within the scope of their certification

• Ability to exercise sound judgement, diplomacy and a professional demeanor

• Demonstrates ability to communicate by reading, writing and typing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively to carry out job requirements

• Experience with computers

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

• N/A

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Two years of medical office experience

• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program, BMO program, RT program or other related field

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program

• Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations.

• Must be willing to float to other FHMG practices, within reason, when patient load, vacation schedules etc. make it necessary.

• Demonstrates ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

• Must be currently certified and maintain certification by one of the following:

1. American Association of Medical Assistants ("AAMA") for Certified Medical Assistants (CMA)

2. American Medical Certification Association ("AMCA") for Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC)

3. American Medical Technologists ("AMT") for Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)

4. National Association for Health Professionals ("NAHP") for Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)

5. National Center for Competency Testing ("NCCT") for National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)

6. National Healthcareer Association (NHA) for Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)

7. American Registry of Medical Assistants ("ARMA")
