SUMMARY:

We are currently seeking a Clinical Operations and Professional Practice and Development Senior Director to join our team. This full time role will work days.

Purpose of this position: Provides overall direction and leadership of nursing professional practice and development across the enterprise. Accountable for education and development planning and coordination. Works with clinical leaders to set, maintain and improve clinical nursing practice. Provides clinical and operational leadership oversight to other patient care service departments as assigned. Reports up through the Chief Nursing Officer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Develops long-range, strategic, and operational plans to ensure that patient care, programs, staff development and operational objectives of Hennepin Health System (HHS) are being achieved. Integrates the vision, mission, and strategic plans of HHS into planning
  • Assures effective operation and integration of clinical and educational resources within areas of

    accountability. Monitors, assesses and improves services, quality and performance
  • Establishes success indicators and expectations for the services provided including clinical and quality outcomes, patient and staff satisfaction, and monitors performance against these indicators
  • Promotes efficient organization of work to be done and ensures workforce is trained to competently perform the work required. Provides assessment related to education and professional development, oversight and planning for patient care services
  • Directs the planning and daily operations of the departments assigned
  • Develops Practice/Development annual goals and actions for ongoing and required education,

    orientation of new patient care services staff, student interns, student experiences, and patient

    education. Collaborates with Center for Learning Integration leaders and staff on overall educational goals and planning
  • Promotes a culture of evidence-based practice through use of research to establish standards and developing problem solving approaches in staff
  • Fosters accountability for individual performance and department outcomes. Demonstrates leadership behaviors that support direct reports and staff to take responsibility, authority and accountability for decision making
  • Establishes an environment that promotes teamwork within and across clinical areas and hospital, identifies team and individual developmental opportunities and encourages individual contributions to overall team effectiveness. Provides clear expectations and standards of accountability to ensure consistency with the organizational mission and vision as well as professional practice guidelines
  • Assumes responsibility for the preparation, review, and management of reporting department budgets to meet or exceed budgetary expectations
  • Establishes and maintains systems to ensure compliance with all regulatory standards relative to professional competency and education and other departments of oversight
  • Represents Patient Care Services on internal and external committees and project responsibilities and other assignments as deemed appropriate by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)
  • Utilizes quality improvement techniques for driving improvement in patient care and clinical outcomes as well as programmatic service delivery
  • Responsible for the development of clinical pathways, development and deployment of standard

    nursing practice including onboarding across the ambulatory system
  • Interacts with clinical leaders to identify common issues and concerns; participates in creative problem solving; and identifies own needs for growth and development
  • Provides guidance and staff development to enhance the knowledge and skills of clinical staff
  • Continuously evaluates Nursing Practice (includes RN, and LPN) to identify opportunities to

    improve/coordinate the development and implementation of nursing and best practices throughout patient care departments
  • Provides expert consultation and facilitation to impact processes and outcomes of patient care
  • Establishes and maintains a comprehensive and coordinated nursing orientation program
  • Integrates learning into practice. Maintains current knowledge of the field including performance

    improvement methodology and applications. Applies performance improvement / LEAN methodology and tools. Understands cultural and process change theories and uses this knowledge to achieve results


QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Nursing or a related health care field
  • Five (5) years of clinical and management experience in nursing or relatedarea

  • An approved equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in Nursing Administration, Executive Leadership or related education
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:
  • Expertise in the Nursing Process, Leadership
  • Ability to adapt to various strategic initiatives and pivot as needed
License/Certifications:
  • Must possess a valid RN license issued by the State of MN
