The Department of Pharmacy, consistent with the mission of Johns Hopkins Medicine, places a priority on teaching, research and patient care. At Johns Hopkins Hospital, the department is responsible for providing acute and ambulatory care services for adult oncology patients. Within the department, there are 29 oncology clinical pharmacy specialists, pharmacist coordinators, and clinical pharmacists.

The Clinical Pharmacist II in Ambulatory Oncology Infusion will provide clinical and operational support for oncology patients who receive care in the three ambulatory oncology infusion centers or are admitted to the oncology center. The clinical pharmacist will manage medication therapies, in collaboration with prescribers, provide education to patients and staff, clinically assess and review orders, and support operations of the medication use process. Responsibilities of the position include: comprehensive medication management, emergency code response, education, policy/procedure development, formulary and stewardship guideline alignment, and research activities. They will provide drug information and education to patients, students, residents, pharmacists, and other health care practitioners.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy resulting in Pharm D. or BS degree.
  • Completion of an ASHP accredited residency program or equivalent experience is required.
  • Current licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Maryland required.
  • Board Certification through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties or a certification deemed appropriate for the practitioner's practice setting by Division Director is required within 2 years of start date.
  • Hospital and departmental education requirements completed within 90 days of hire. ACLS and/or PALS certification is desired.
