Responsibilities

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing clinical pharmacy services including the implementation of both system and facility Pharmacy Services initiatives. The incumbent will provide leadership in establishing and maintaining clinical programs evaluate Dignity Health/CommonSpirit Health initiatives for their applicability to the facility mentor staff pharmacists to clinical pharmacy activities educate pharmacy residents and students affiliated with the facility and collaborate with the facility Pharmacy Director in establishing action plans to support department initiatives at the campus level. Ensures that all actions taken and methods to produce the results outlined below incorporate and promote the corporate mission Vision Values and Woodland Memorial Hospital value based Service Standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Promotes long and short-range planning to respond and integrate within the region, market changes and organizational strategies.
  • Works collaboratively with pharmacy peers to standardize clinical pharmacy systems when appropriate and use the principles of evidence based medicine and best practices to establish organizational benchmarks.
  • Implements a plan for financial resources that will meet budget targets.
  • Works, as directed by facility pharmacy leadership, on developing, coaching and mentoring pharmacy staff to maximize their scope of practice in the provision of clinical pharmacy services and scholarly activities across the continuum of care.
  • Assists pharmacy leadership in motivating pharmacy staff to a high level of performance through strategies that promote growth and development of pride in the services provided by the pharmacy team.
  • Assures that clinical pharmacy initiatives are in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Educates the medical staff regarding cost-effective, quality pharmaceutical care based on evidence base medicine and best practices.
  • Collaborates with the Medical Staff' Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee Chairperson to assure safe and effective pharmaceutical care.
  • Collaborates with Medical Staff leaders and fellow Clinical Pharmacy Specialists to develop clinical guidelines and pathways that extend beyond the acute care sector of the healthcare continuum.
  • Developes and marketing clinical pharmacy services to individual and institutional customers including third-party payors.
  • Provides functional guidance to pharmacy staff to develop programs to ensure positive patient outcomes.
  • Supports pharmacy resident and student experiential training.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or a Master's Degree in Pharmacy (MS).
  • Demonstrated clinical practice experience is required in a setting of similar size and complexity and/or completion of a pharmacy residency.


Licensure:

  • Current California Pharmacist license.


Preferred:
  • Completion of a pharmacy residency
  • Member of ASHP & CSHP
